Shore excursion to Syracuse and Noto leaving from Syracuse

Our destination today is the beautiful town of Syracuse in the southern part of the island - enjoy a very special introduction to the Sicilian coastline en-route.

Passing the "Piana of Catania", full of orange and lemons trees, the coast line of the Ionic sea and Iblei mountains, arriving in Syracuse. You will have time to visit the archaeological area of Neapolis with its Greek theatre, the Roman amphitheatre and Latomia del Paradiso (with its Dionysius ear).

You will then visit 'Ortigia Island;  The Temple of Apollo built in the 6C BC is the oldest peripteral Doric temple in Sicily; and the Cathedral, built on the ruins of a Greek Temple which is  more than 2.500 years old.

We will also visit one of the more charming sights of Ortigia, the "Arethusa fountain" with its Papyrus plants, overlooking the Ionic sea.

We will then drive you to Noto to discover the beauties of Sicilian Baroque.

Thia beautiful, historical town, built after the earthquakes of January 1693 and 1703, is entered by the Porta Reale and from there you follow Corso Vittorio Emanuele, along which you can admire the Duomo, and numerous 18th century beautiful palaces of incredible architectural value.
